PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chris Griffin (ranked 3251 p4p, 4971 weight class) and Ki Dausz (ranked 383 p4p, 480 weight class). Dausz has chosen Trio Libel's : Gadisku as his entrance music. Chris Griffin has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Chris Griffin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ki Dausz!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Arvi Lind and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dausz cracks Griffin with an open hand slap.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Griffin.
Griffin shoots in and drives through. Dausz sprawls well.
Dausz looks to clinch

and Griffin counters with a shoot takedown. Dausz fights it but they end up in guard.

Dausz pushes Griffin off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Sloppy strikes from Dausz. Those never looked like landing.
Griffin feinted with a counter takedown.
Dausz throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Dausz lands a head kick!
A punch lands to the side of Dausz 's head but he takes it in his stride.

and Griffin counters with a shoot takedown. Dausz fights it but they end up in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dausz wants to sweep here but Griffin controlling him for the moment.
Griffin makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Griffin accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Griffin is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Griffin with a flurry of punches that miss.
Griffin throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Dausz works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Dausz has momentary wrist control but Griffin slips an elbow through the middle.
Griffin wants to control from the top but Dausz keeps moving.

Griffin postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Griffin is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Dausz can do anything to dispel that myth.

Griffin connects with a couple of short punches.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Griffin slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Dausz utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Griffin loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Griffin wants to control from the top but Dausz keeps moving.
Griffin controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Dausz stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Griffin.
A nice inside leg kick there by Griffin. That's going to slow Dausz down.
Dausz throws a body kick despite being completely out of range

and Griffin counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Dausz!

Dausz is rocked!
Dausz is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Dausz is still in real trouble! Can Griffin finish him?
Dausz avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Griffin.

Dausz seems to have recovered his senses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Griffin is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Dausz is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Dausz is looking to regain half guard here but Griffin keeps moving and retains side control.
Chris Griffin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Griffin is staying tight to Dausz's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Griffin is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Dausz knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Griffin lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Griffin is working for a submission of some sort.
Griffin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dausz keeps working.

Griffin thows a huge punch but Dausz dodges it nicely.

Griffin seems to be looking for submissions.
We've been informed that Dausz has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Griffin not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Griffin not doing much here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Dausz has hold of Griffin's hands but Griffin slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

The fight stays on the outside here - Dausz looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Griffin drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Griffin jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Griffin is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Dausz really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Griffin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Griffin is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Dausz is trying to escape and Griffin transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Dausz is forced to tap! Nice work there by Griffin! Very nice indeed!
