Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Oscar Meyer (ranked 2240 p4p, 4804 weight class) and Mike Carpenter (ranked 110 p4p, 219 weight class). Mike Carpenter has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 44 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Oscar Meyer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 26 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mike Carpenter!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Aafke Stam and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carpenter tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Meyer manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Meyer drops down looking for a counter takedown but Carpenter sprawls and moves away.
Carpenter tries to clinch up.
Meyer avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Carpenter shoots in looking for a takedown. Meyer tries to sprawl out of it but Carpenter keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Meyer manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Meyer closes the distance and pushes Carpenter back into the cage.
Carpenter has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Meyer is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Carpenter changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Meyer fights it off and pushes away nicely.

You can see the frustration on Meyer's face as Carpenter controls the position.
Carpenter looks up at the clock and then as Meyer takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Carpenter smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Meyer is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Carpenter off and has taken his back!

Carpenter covering up well under a series of strikes from Meyer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carpenter is trying to get back to his feet but Meyer has full control of the position and if anything, Carpenter has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Meyer wants to control but Carpenter is keeping busy.
Carpenter avoids the strikes from Meyer.
Meyer has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Carpenter manages to escape to his feet.
Carpenter wants to clinch up but Meyer keeps it at a distance.
Carpenter shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Meyer but Meyer pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Meyer fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Meyer shoots in looking for a takedown. Carpenter tries to sprawl out of it but Meyer keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Carpenter manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Meyer shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Carpenter but Carpenter pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Carpenter fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Meyer sprawls well initially but Carpenter persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Carpenter lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Carpenter lands strikes from half guard.
Carpenter looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Meyer with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Carpenter really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Meyer. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Meyer is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Carpenter's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Carpenter's back!

Meyer is looking for a choke. Carpenter gets to his feet with his opponent on his back and slams him to the mat. Carpenter manages to squirm out of the attempted choke and turns into his opponent's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Meyer with a couple of shots from the bottom there - nothing Carpenter can't handle though.

Carpenter makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Meyer looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Carpenter controls from within his opponent's guard.
Carpenter's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Oscar Meyer will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Horrible takedown attempt by Carpenter or perhaps it was just good defense by Meyer, which made it look bad.

It looked like Meyer was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Carpenter dives in and grabs Meyer's left leg, looking for a takedown. Meyer pushes down on Carpenter's head and hops out.

Carpenter lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Meyer circles away quickly and effectively.
