Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Quinton Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Mikel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jackson comes to the cage accompanied by Styles Of Beyond- Nine Thou. Johnny Mikel has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Quinton Jackson's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson throws a right and a left that Mikel avoids nicely.
Mikel throws a series of punches but Jackson moves out of range.
Jackson has a takedown stuffed.

and Mikel counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Mikel drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Mikel jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Mikel slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Mikel working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Jackson is trying to control Mikel's posture but Mikel avoids it.
Mikel tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Mikel has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mikel wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Jackson, who protects the arm well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mikel is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jackson is just riding it out for now. Mikel eventually gives up the hold.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Jackson circles away from the clinch attempt.
Jackson moves in looking to clinch but Mikel pushes him off.
Jackson connects with a looping right hand.

Mikel fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Mikel throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Jackson gets caught flat footed, as Mikel shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Jackson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Mikel sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Jackson's guard.
Mikel is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Jackson defends it well.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Mikel gets to his feet - Jackson follows without any prompting.
A jab lands there for Mikel.

Mikel shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Mikel showed some decent athleticism there.

That's time! Jackson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Mikel shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jackson as he jumps to the side.

Jackson thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Mikel is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Mikel thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Mikel passes Jackson's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Jackson gets back to full guard.

Mikel drops back, looking for a kneebar! Jackson looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Jackson looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Jackson!

Mikel is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Jackson's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Jackson's back!
Oooh a big shot gets through from Mikel. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!

Mikel is not going to allow Jackson to sit and survive in this position.
Mikel sinks in the hooks and is looking for the choke. He's got it! Jackson taps out!
