And in the blue corner, fighting out of Tokyo, with a TWGC record of 6 wins and 10 losses; John Doe! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Laitila instigates a clinch. Laitila prevents a takedown attempt there.
Laitila is trying to pull guard but Doe has him pressed against the cage. Laitila drags the fight down to the ground.
Doe not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Laitila tries to land a sweep but no joy. Doe wants to pass the guard but Laitila is keeping the position. Doe pushes down on Laitila's leg and manages to get into half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Laitila tries to get to full guard but Doe has control of the leg. Laitila's coaches at Jed's Gym have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position. Laitila slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Doe works to advance to full mount. Laitila defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
