This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. And in the blue corner, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 16 losses; Tan Zan!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Emerson Jorge and Alexandre Firmino.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way.
Zan shoots for a double leg takedown but Curls sprawls well. He's pushed Zan's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Curls tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Zan manages to circle out of the way.
Curls leaves Zan with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Zan is defended easily by Curls.
Curls wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Jerry Curls has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tan Zan.
Zan shoots for a takedown but Curls saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Zan fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

and Curls holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Zan is trying to drag Curls to the mat but Curls just about manages to keep his footing. He used the ropes to his advantage there.
Curls jumps guard and drags Zan to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Curls has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Zan can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Curls might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Zan drops back, looking for a kneebar! Curls looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Curls looks to have wriggled free... Curls has knee on belly and moves into mount. Score +2 for reaching mount: Curls (6) vs (0) Zan
Curls tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Zan looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back! Score +3 for taking back: Curls (9) vs (0) Zan
Zan tries to escape but Curls has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Curls doesn't have the hooks in and Zan manages to turn into his guard.
Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Curls (9) vs (2) Zan
Curls has Zan pulled in close to control his posture.
Zan looking to improve position, pressing down on Curls's thigh with his hand. Curls seems to be working to lock up a guilotine though... is Zan paying attention? Apparently not! He's locked it up tight! Zan's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! Curls picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!
