PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Texas Pete (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brooklyn Tyson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Texas Pete has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Texas Pete seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Texas Pete!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brooklyn Tyson!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Tiny Johnson and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Tyson.
Pete looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Tyson stands up.

Tyson shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Tyson decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Tyson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Pete as he jumps to the side.

Brooklyn Tyson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tyson shoots in but no luck this time.
Texas Pete has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brooklyn Tyson.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Tyson decides to stand up.

Pete changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Tyson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Pete decides to take the fight back to the feet.

and Pete counters with a single leg into guard. Tyson didn't expect that.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pete won't allow Tyson to get back to his feet.
Pete content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Tyson is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Pete is controlling him.
Pete wants to stand but Tyson has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Tyson kicks Pete off and gets to his feet.

Pete gets a clinch.
Tyson tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Pete smiles and moves away.

Tyson prevents a takedown attempt there.
Pete has Tyson pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Tyson manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Tyson is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Pete lands a nice shot to the head.
Tyson's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Pete is working for a guillotine from mount but Tyson frees his head quite easily.
Tyson is trying to stand.
Pete with shots to the head and body - Tyson looks very uncomfortable down there.
Pete connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Tyson decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Pete is trying to stand.
Tyson wants to stand up but Pete is controlling the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Tyson stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Pete to get to his feet.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Brooklyn Tyson will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

and Pete decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Tyson's guard.
Pete is working Tyson over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Tyson wants to stand but Pete is controlling the position.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Texas Pete has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brooklyn Tyson.
Pete wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Tyson jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Pete walks away with a smile on his face. Tyson gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

and Pete counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Tyson's guard now.
Pete has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Tyson uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Pete feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Tyson is looking to stand up but Pete isn't so interested in that idea.

Tyson is working an open guard so Pete takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Pete has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Pete ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Pete scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Horrible takedown by Pete or perhaps it was just good defense by Tyson which made him look bad.

Pete decides to return to a standing position.

Pete gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Tyson fails to pull guard.
Tyson tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Pete just stands there and leans against the cage.

Pete pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Pete won't let Tyson get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Pete can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Tyson is looking to escape.
Pete is really struggling to control Tyson but he's trying to hold on to the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Texas Pete dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Pete seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Pete throws a right hand that Tyson ducks under and follows up with a left that Tyson also avoids with ease.

Tyson is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Pete stands up over Tyson, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Pete prevents Tyson from getting back to his feet.

Well Pete has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
