PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between alex reid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rogerio Filho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think reid might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to rocky balboa. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
reid throws a nice looking combination but Filho bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
reid feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Filho's calf.
Filho doesn't manage to clinch there - reid circles away.

Filho fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. reid sprawls well initially but Filho persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

and reid counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Filho has dropped down and is working for a takedown. reid is trying to keep an underhook but Filho manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Filho wants to pass to mount but reid is defending the position.
reid throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

Filho is in close to reid's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Filho drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Filho jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
A head kick from reid lands but Filho takes it in his stride.

It looks like Rogerio Filho has been cut.
reid shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Filho as he avoids it easily.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Filho is pushing reid up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Filho has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

reid changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Filho looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

reid tries to land a knee to the head but Filho blocks with his arms.

Filho is looking for a takedown up against the cage. reid gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

reid works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

An inside leg kick lands from reid.
Filho lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Filho throws an overhand right that lands on reid's shoulder, as reid tries to avoid the shot.

reid closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - reid lands in his opponent's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
reid won't allow Filho to get back to his feet.

reid is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Filho pulls his head out easily.

Filho smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
reid moves forwards but Filho connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Filho is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! reid rolls with it to try and escape but Filho cranks on the arm and reid is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
