PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Junior Dos Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mr Woo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Junior Dos Santos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mr Woo!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Sosuke Kotani and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Woo throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Dos Santos was covering up waiting for the punch and Woo finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Dos Santos escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Woo gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Woo got a little sloppy there for a moment and Dos Santos has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Woo has managed to get both his arms back between Dos Santos's legs - danger averted.
Woo is working Dos Santos over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.


It looks like Junior Dos Santos has been cut.
Woo throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Dos Santos works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Dos Santos has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Woo can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Woo accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Dos Santos escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Woo gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Woo drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Woo jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Dos Santos had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Woo is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Dos Santos Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Woo's back instead.
Woo has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Dos Santos has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Dos Santos is not going to allow Woo to sit and survive in this position.

Dos Santos has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Woo has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Woo manages to reverse the position and now he's in Dos Santos's guard. Nice work there by Woo.

Dos Santos is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Woo is aware though and is defending well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Dos Santos throws a series of punches but Woo moves out of range.
Dos Santos lands a nice shot that snaps Woo's head back.
Dos Santos is breathing heavily.

Woo scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Dos Santos knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Woo on the ground.

Woo is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Dos Santos defends it well.

Dos Santos tries to roll over but Woo keeps him under control.
Dos Santos regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Woo.
Woo won't allow Dos Santos to sweep him here.

Woo thows a big elbow that misses.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Dos Santos working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Woo doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Woo manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Dos Santos has his foot on Woo's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Woo works his way back into a safe position though.
Woo postures up and lands a big shot to Dos Santos's brow.

Dos Santos is looking for a triangle but Woo pushes his legs off easily.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.


A big left from Dos Santos misses.
Dos Santos connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Woo momentarily.


It looks like Mr Woo has been cut.
Nice shot lands for Dos Santos.
Woo uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Dos Santos.
Dos Santos closes the distance and clinches up with Woo, looking for a takedown. Dos Santos pushes Woo against the ropes but Woo circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Mr Woo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Woo shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Dos Santos looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Woo has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Dos Santos defend it? Woo steps over the head and cranks it - Dos Santos is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Woo!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Mr Woo!
