The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Valentine connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Putin dives in and scores a takedown into Valentine 's guard.
Valentine wants to stand but Putin is controlling the position.
Putin slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Valentine takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Valentine throws Putin to one side and escapes!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Valentine wants to get back to his feet but Putin is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Valentine is looking to stand up but Putin isn't so interested in that idea.
Putin distracts Valentine with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Valentine wants to stand and escape but Putin is having none of it.
Putin is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Putin passes into half guard.
Putin seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Putin passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Valentine !
