This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Amsterdam, with a TWGC record of 34 wins and 43 losses; Roman Boesku! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 26 wins and 19 losses; Jackson Ramirez! The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Eddie Farnsworth and Steve Montenegro.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Ramirez shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Boesku pinned against the cage. Boesku gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Ramirez shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Boesku as he jumps to the side. Boesku closes this distance looking for a takedown but Ramirez circles away. Jackson Ramirez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Ramirez drives through with a takedown into Boesku's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Boesku (0) vs (2) Ramirez Boesku is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Ramirez is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Boesku looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ramirez is one step ahead there. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ramirez showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Ramirez told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. That's three minutes gone in the round. Boesku is working hard here to advance position. We've been hearing good reports from Boesku's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. That's four minutes gone in the round. Boesku won't allow Ramirez to pass to mount. Boesku moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Boesku keeping full guard, as Ramirez tries to pass. Ramirez is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. It looks like Ramirez might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Boesku has control of Ramirez's left arm, preventing Ramirez from doing any damage.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Boesku wants to sweep but no luck. Boesku keeping full guard, as Ramirez tries to pass. Ramirez sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Boesku's guard.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Ramirez content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Boesku tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Ramirez has advanced to mount. Uh oh. Score +3 for passing guard: Boesku (0) vs (5) Ramirez The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ramirez looking to control and managing it successfully.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Ramirez tries to control but Boesku wriggling away. Ramirez prevents Boesku from getting the reversal. Ramirez content just to control the position here. Boesku is looking to improve his position but Ramirez isn't that keen on the idea.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. Boesku is hanging on here. He's in a desperate position. Ramirez sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Boesku is desperately trying to improve his position but Ramirez has a good base and remains in mount.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. Ramirez swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Boesku is now in Ramirez's guard. A big mistake from Ramirez there, giving up the dominant position! Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Boesku (2) vs (5) Ramirez Boesku is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Boesku wants to control from the top but Ramirez keeps moving. Boesku passes Ramirez's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Ramirez is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Boesku's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Boesku's back! Score +4 for clean sweep to past guard: Boesku (2) vs (9) Ramirez Ramirez trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Boesku doesn't escape.
That's ten minutes gone in the round. I really don't envy Boesku right now.
That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Boesku is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Ramirez keeps control of the position as Boesku tries to break free.
That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Boesku looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment. Ramirez doesn't have the hooks in and Boesku manages to turn into his guard.
Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Boesku (4) vs (9) Ramirez Boesku looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Ramirez is pulling down on Boesku's head. It's preventing any offense from Boesku, at least for the moment. Well,Boesku is on his way to losing a decision here. Can he use his experience to pull something off in the closing minutes? Boesku trying to control but Ramirez is working from the bottom.

Boesku keeping moving, preventing Ramirez from controlling successfully. Ramirez controls from within his opponent's guard.

Boesku wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Ramirez is now in half guard. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Ramirez is pressing down on Boesku's thigh, looking to free his foot. Boesku is holding on for now.
