This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 24 wins and 19 losses; The Reverend Jim Ignatowski! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 42 wins and 15 losses; Shane MacGowan! The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Joseph Jones and David Schapiro.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Ignatowski fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging MacGowan to the ground. Ignatowski is now in MacGowan's guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Ignatowski (2) vs (0) MacGowan Ignatowski has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. MacGowan is trying to keep Ignatowski in close.
Ignatowski tries to free his leg and advance position but MacGowan is retaining full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. MacGowan controls Ignatowski momentarily but Ignatowski frees himself. Ignatowski trying to control the position from guard on top but MacGowan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Ignatowski is looking to pass into half guard but MacGowan pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now MacGowan is in guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ignatowski wants to control from the top but MacGowan keeps moving. MacGowan can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Ignatowski controls the pace. Ignatowski has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round. MacGowan is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Ignatowski trying to control the action but MacGowan is working from the bottom. MacGowan gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Ignatowski uses his free foot to push down on MacGowan's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for MacGowan. MacGowan is the more experienced fighter here and he's going to need to draw on some of that experience if he's going to pull this one out the bag.

That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. MacGowan might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Ignatowski haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. MacGowan swivels though and keeps the full guard. Ignatowski being controlled here momentarily. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! MacGowan is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
