This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 29 wins and 15 losses; Abubakar Camara! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 42 wins and 32 losses; Tsuyoi Kakuto! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Matheus Silva and Emerson Jorge.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Kakuto shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Kakuto was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Score +4 for clean takedown past guard: Camara (0) vs (4) Kakuto Camara struggling a bit here. Kakuto trying to control the action but Camara is working from the bottom. Kakuto tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kakuto is looking to take a break and control but Camara is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Camara can't do much from the bottom here. Kakuto is trying to move to mount but Camara reverses beautifully and ends up in Kakuto's guard. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Camara (2) vs (4) Kakuto Camara stopping the sweep attempt from Kakuto.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kakuto is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Camara is aware though and is defending well. Camara stopping the sweep attempt from Kakuto. Camara slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Camara has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Kakuto wants to sweep but no luck. Kakuto working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Camara doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Camara manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Camara won't allow Kakuto to sweep him here. Camara gets to mount! Kakuto was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly. Score +3 for taking back: Camara (10) vs (4) Kakuto Camara seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission. Kakuto defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Camara's arms. Kakuto tries to break free.

He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Kakuto wants to sweep here but Camara controlling him for the moment. Camara trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Kakuto is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Kakuto bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Camara's guard. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Camara (10) vs (6) Kakuto Camara is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Kakuto sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Camara's guard. Camara moves into full guard.
Camara isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Kakuto stacks Camara on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Kakuto! Score +3 for passing guard: Camara (10) vs (9) Kakuto Camara is looking for a sweep.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Kakuto wants to lay and pray for a moment but Camara keeps working. Camara tries to buck Kakuto off but Kakuto is having none of it. My spies in Canucks Combat Club inform me that Kakuto has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Kakuto controlling the position. That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Camara working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kakuto doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kakuto manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Camara has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Kakuto is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Camara. Score +3 for passing guard: Camara (10) vs (15) Kakuto Kakuto thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Camara is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Kakuto off and has taken his back! Score +4 for clean sweep to past guard: Camara (14) vs (15) Kakuto Kakuto tries to escape but Camara has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Kakuto tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Camara manages to capitalize on a mistake by Kakuto to take his back! Score +3 for taking back: Camara (17) vs (15) Kakuto The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kakuto is in bad spot here.
That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Camara is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Kakuto knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Kakuto for a finish. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Camara keeps control of the position easily here as Kakuto tries to buck him off.

What can Kakuto do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
