PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Agbay Amiga (ranked 24286 p4p, 24644 weight class) and Helen Salvacion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 35 - 3, fighting out of Las Vegas, Agbay Amiga!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 28 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Helen Salvacion!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Wesley Smith and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Salvacion fails to land the takedown.
Amiga lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
Amiga misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Amiga dives in and grabs Salvacion's left leg, looking for a takedown. Salvacion pushes down on Amiga's head and hops out.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Amiga is defended easily by Salvacion.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Agbay Amiga. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Salvacion leaves Amiga with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Salvacion thinks about the counter body kick.

Salvacion looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Amiga!

Amiga is being controlled here.
Salvacion trying to control the position but Amiga is working away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Salvacion is staying tight to Amiga's torso, preventing him from escaping.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Salvacion shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Salvacion showed some decent athleticism there.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Salvacion in particular looking to stall.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Amiga tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Amiga looking to score a takedown here. Salvacion is defending well but Amiga drives through and ends up in Salvacion's guard.
Salvacion seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Amiga is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Amiga stays in close to Salvacion's body and controls the position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Salvacion shoots in but no luck this time.
Amiga jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Salvacion tries for a takedown but Amiga circles away easily
and Amiga counters with a head kick. That will keep Salvacion thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Horrible takedown attempt by Salvacion or perhaps it was just good defense by Amiga, which made it look bad.
Agbay Amiga has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Helen Salvacion.

Amiga looks for a takedown but Salvacion sprawls well.
Amiga pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Salvacion fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Amiga attempts a counter takedown but Salvacion avoids it well and moves away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Amiga closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Salvacion to the mat! Salvacion manages to get full guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Amiga wants to stand but Salvacion has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Amiga stands up from Salvacion's guard - Amiga perhaps looking for a knockout.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Agbay Amiga dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Salvacion shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Amiga but Amiga pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Amiga dives in for a single leg takedown but Salvacion sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Salvacion steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.

Amiga gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Salvacion regains guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Amiga wanted to stand there but Salvacion had control of the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Salvacion has control of Amiga's left arm, preventing Amiga from doing any damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Amiga tries to stand but Salvacion is controlling from the bottom.
Salvacion trying to keep a closed guard but Amiga is proving a slippery customer.
Amiga is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Salvacion can do to turn this around?
Amiga wanted to stand there but Salvacion had control of the position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Amiga is looking to work some ground and pound but Salvacion has wrist control.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Salvacion is pulling down on Amiga's head. It's preventing any offense from Amiga, at least for the moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Salvacion misses with a takedown attempt - Amiga sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Amiga jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.

Salvacion closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Amiga is trying to get back to half guard.
A lull in the action here.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Amiga is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Amiga is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Salvacion off and has taken his back!

Salvacion looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
A lull in the action here.

And that's the end of the fight!
Agbay Amiga showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Amiga has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
