The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Romano throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Dementyev was covering up waiting for the punch and Romano finishes the takedown easily into guard. Let's hope that Romano has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Dementyev seems a little lost for a moment, as Romano dominates the positioning. Romano working away. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Dementyev tries to bench press Romano off him but Romano keeps the position. Romano trying to control the position but Dementyev is working away.
And that's the end of the fight! Romano wins on points by 15 to 2. A relieved looking Vic Romano thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it. |
