The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. No luck with that takedown attempt from Kotze. Shigaraki defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Kotze. Kotze fails with a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Adonis Kotze. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kotze fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Shigaraki avoids it really well and circles away. Nice takedown defense from Shigaraki. No joy for Kotze on that attempt. Kotze shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Shigaraki closes the distance and pushes Kotze back into the cage. Shigaraki gets a trip takedown into half guard. Kotze tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Shigaraki presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! You can see the frustration on Kotze's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
