In the red corner, competing out of St Petersburg, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Stu Pendous! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Sydney, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Julian Hopson!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Gregory Folan and Alec Ball.


The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Pendous defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Hopson.
Julian Hopson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Pendous rushes Hopson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Hopson goes for a takedown attempt but Pendous pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Hopson shoots in for a takedown but Pendous shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Stu Pendous has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Julian Hopson.

Hopson swings around for an armbar but Pendous sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Hopson's guard.

Hopson has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Combat Wombat Burrow. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

It looks like Hopson might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pendous is trying to control but can't.

Hopson wants to pass to mount but Pendous is defending the position.
Hopson with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

Hopson is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Pendous has managed to free his arm - good work.
Hopson is taking a breather. Pendous says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Let's hope that Hopson has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Pendous is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Hopson jumps into side control!

Pendous is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Hopson's leg. Oh but that's left an opportunity for Hopson! He's got an arm triangle... it looks tight! He's rotating and Pendous has tapped! This one is allllll over!
