This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 3 losses; Dade Desjardins! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Yaya Kouame! The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Taro Takaoka and Shirou Masuda.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Desjardins tries to keep at a distance but Kouame has taken the fight into the clinch. Desjardins is working for takedown but Kouame is calmly controlling the position for now. Kouame is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Kouame is looking for a takedown. Kouame tries to score a body lock takedown but Desjardins shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Dade Desjardins has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yaya Kouame. Kouame drops down looking for an ankle pick but Desjardins pulls his leg out and moves away.
Kouame takes the fight into the clinch. Kouame wants to take the fight to the mat but Desjardins manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kouame has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Desjardins avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. We've been hearing reports that Desjardins has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Kouame is looking for a takedown. Desjardins is just content to waste time from the top position. Kouame takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Kouame holds on and takes a little breather.
