Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Mickey Contreras!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jon Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Sandra Marshall and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Contreras keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Contreras throws a lazy uppercut
and Jackson counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Jackson slips under a jab.
Jackson fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Jackson walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Contreras jabs at Jackson's body.
Contreras slips a straight right by Jackson.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Contreras lands a jab to the head.
Contreras lands a really nice looking cross but Jackson seems unphased.
A jab from Contreras finds it's way through Jackson's defenses.
Contreras uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Jackson.

The fighters circling - Contreras throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Contreras tries to clinch there but Jackson circles away.
We've been told by Contreras's head coaches at Elite Island Training that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Jackson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Contreras but Contreras pushes him off and we're back to square one.
It looked like Contreras was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Jackson.
Contreras uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Contreras lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Jackson takes a jab right on the kisser.
Contreras loads up on a big right hand but Jackson slips the punch.
Jackson throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Mickey Contreras is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Jackson throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Contreras throws a poor cross that misses

and Jackson counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Jackson.
Jackson advances to half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Contreras trying to control here.
Contreras knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jackson on the ground.

Jackson is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Jackson is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Contreras doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Jackson.
Contreras is staying active underneath Jackson, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Jackson is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Contreras wants to get back to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
My spies in PhoQus Island Training inform me that Jackson has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Jackson is looking for a kimura but Contreras is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Jackson to get the leverage.

Jackson seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Contreras is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!

Jon Jackson gave a mention to Island clothing lite in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
