This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 1 losses; Whole Nutz! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 0 losses; Hiroshi Sato!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.


The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Sato is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Nutz is defending well.

Nutz jumps guard and drags Sato to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Nutz working a defensive guard here.
Sato stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nutz swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Sato looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Sato pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Nutz is keeping the position for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sato stopping the sweep attempt from Nutz.

Nutz working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Sato doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Sato manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Sato tries to free his leg and advance position but Nutz is retaining full guard.

Nutz wants to sweep but no luck.
Sato should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Nutz lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Sato escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Nutz gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Nutz stands and throws Sato's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Nutz tries to move into full mount but can't pass Sato's legs.

Sato is looking to regain half guard here but Nutz keeps moving and retains side control.
Nutz wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sato keeps working.
Sato tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Nutz easily slips into full mount!

Nutz is working for a guillotine from mount but Sato frees his head quite easily.
Sato keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Nutz wants to control the pace but Sato is squirming around nicely.
Nutz is really struggling to control Sato but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Nutz is working for a guillotine from mount but Sato frees his head quite easily.
Sato tries to reverse the position but Nutz maintains control.

Nutz has hold of Sato's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Sato manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Sato is squirming around, avoiding Nutz's attempts to control the action.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sato is looking to get to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sato tries to hold on but Nutz pushes him away.
Nutz pushing the pace here, looking to move to his opponents back and work for a finish.
Nutz trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Sato is in all sorts of trouble here.
Nutz controlling his opponent.
Sato keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Nutz fails to take his opponent's back.

Nutz is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Sato to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Sato shrugs it off.
Nutz looking to control but Sato is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Nutz looking to secure an arm triangle but Sato defends it well.
Sato really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Sato tries to improve his position but instead Nutz has taken his back!

Nutz has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Sato! Can he survive? No! He's out! Nutz gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 5:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Whole Nutz!
