PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between D.D Panda (ranked 1115 p4p, 1965 weight class) and Hafir Dharris (ranked 173 p4p, 315 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that D.D Panda has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily D.D Panda seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, D.D Panda!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Hafir Dharris !
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Johanna Lukiainen and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dharris moves away from the strike by Panda.
Panda scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Panda looks to score with a jab to the body but Dharris is just out of range.

Panda scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Panda not doing much here.
Panda wants to free his trapped foot but Dharris is holding on for dear life with his legs.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Panda passes to side control.

Dharris tries to buck Panda off but Panda is having none of it.

Panda tries to advance to mount but Dharris denies him.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.

Dharris is not content to let Panda control the position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
A slow jab from Dharris misses its intended target.
Dharris has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Dharris there as he acknowledges the shot.
A combination from Panda does no damage.
Dharris looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Panda tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Dharris paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Dharris walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Panda has a takedown stuffed.
Panda closes the distance but Dharris moves to the side
and Dharris counters with a nice uppercut.

It looks like D.D Panda has been cut.
Panda looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Panda darts in looking for a takedown but Dharris gets double underhooks and turns Panda into the cage.
Panda tries to pull guard but Dharris forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for D.D Panda. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Panda tries to pull guard but Dharris holds him up against the cage and eventually Panda drops back down to his feet.
Panda effectively controlling the action here.

Dharris breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Dharris avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Dharris looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Panda cracks Dharris with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Panda dives in and scores a takedown into Dharris 's guard.
Panda is standing up over Dharris . Dharris looks to escape but Panda dives into side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Dharris prevents Panda from improving position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Dharris bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Good exchange - Panda coming out on top.
Dharris tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Panda was well out of range. Poor timing from Dharris .

Panda shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Dharris is trying to defend but Panda finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Dharris pushes Panda off and gets back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Panda walks into a stiff left hand from Dharris .
This has been an exciting period of action!
Panda swings for the body but Dharris moves out of range.
Dharris let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
A looping hook to the body misses from Panda. Dharris does a little dance to reset his feet.

Panda bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Dharris 's head backwards.
Dharris punishes Panda's body with a nice straight punch.
Panda throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Dharris swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Dharris ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Dharris ! But no joy.
Panda smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Panda ducks right into an uppercut from Dharris .
Panda slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Dharris needs to keep his hands up - Panda had a free shot at his head there.
Dharris avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

D.D Panda is winning the standup battle so far.
Dharris scores with a jab.

D.D Panda's cut is getting worse.

Panda lands with a shot to the body.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Panda seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Dharris for as long as he can get away with.
Dharris is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Dharris lands a nice looking body shot.
D.D Panda seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Panda is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Dharris 's half guard.
Dharris is trying to control but can't.
Panda is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Panda is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that D.D Panda will probably get the nod.

Panda manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Dharris on his heels. He'll look to pass Dharris 's guard now, I'm sure.
Hafir Dharris has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Dharris wants to stand and escape but Panda is having none of it.
Dharris pulls Panda in close to his closed guard and prevents Panda from doing any damage or advancing position.

Panda rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Dharris moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Panda throws a lazy right hand but Dharris sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Dharris avoids the body shot from Panda.
Panda tries to clinch up but Dharris circles away and keeps his distance.
Dharris on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Dharris has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
Panda misses with an uppercut. Dharris saw that one coming.
A jab lands there for Dharris .

Panda closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Dharris quickly recovers to half guard.

Panda content to control rather than advance.
Dharris desperately trying to maintain half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Panda prevents Dharris from improving his position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Panda is pressing down on Dharris 's thigh, looking to free his foot. Dharris is holding on for now.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Dharris controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Dharris keeps the fight on the outside.
Dharris swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Panda bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Dharris 's head.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Panda moves out of range as Dharris strikes.
Panda connects with a jab.

Panda scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

And that's the end of the fight!
D.D Panda showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Panda has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
