Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy Akesson (ranked 4658 p4p, 5120 weight class) and Bob Babcock (ranked 470 p4p, 483 weight class). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jimmy Akesson! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Bob Babcock! The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Bart Greer and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Akesson scores with a nice strike. Akesson swings for the body but Babcock moves out of range.
Akesson throws a hook to the side of Babcock's head but Babcock sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Akesson punishes Babcock's body with a nice straight punch. Akesson misses with a straight right. Akesson throws a hook but Babcock blocks it. Babcock tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Babcock lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Akesson really is a fat lump. Akesson misses with a hook to the body
and Babcock decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Akesson's guard. Akesson wants to get back to his feet but Babcock passes into half guard.

Akesson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Babcock on the ground. Babcock missing with the ground and pound from half guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Babcock seems to be working for a kimura but Akesson defends the submission attempt. Akesson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Akesson looks like he's trying to stand up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Babcock perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Akesson tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Babcock manages to move to mount!
Babcock controlling his opponent. Babcock's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Babcock scoring with strikes but Akesson is staying in there. Babcock controlling the pace for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A nice elbow there by Babcock. Babcock looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.

It looks like Babcock might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Akesson is trying to stand up. Babcock takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Babcock lands a nice shot to the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Babcock content just to control the position here. Akesson takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Akesson is bucking up trying to escape but Babcock cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Babcock lands a heavy elbow. A nice elbow there by Babcock. Babcock lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Babcock is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Akesson can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

That's four minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Babcock tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Akesson wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Babcock has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Babcock is landing with some decent strikes but Akesson is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Babcock content just to control the position here. We've been informed that Babcock has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Akesson tries to buck Babcock off but he can't manage it. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Bob Babcock dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Akesson misses with a few strikes there.
Babcock thuds his shin into the meat of Akesson's side. Babcock shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Akesson napping and manages to drive through into side control! Babcock controlling the position. Let's hope that Babcock has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Akesson taking a bit of punishment here - Babcock scoring with strikes. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Akesson seems a little lost for a moment, as Babcock dominates the positioning. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Akesson is working to avoid the ground and pound but Babcock connects with a decent elbow. Babcock grinds an elbow into Akesson's temple. Babcock in side control lands a decent elbow. Babcock cracks Akesson with a big elbow.
That's one minute gone in the round. Akesson wants to get back to his feet but Babcock is dominant here and he's now got Akesson's back! Babcock is working the back position looking for the choke. Oh, he's slid into an armbar! Beautiful transition and Akesson taps out! Fantastic Jiu Jitsu from Babcock.
