Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Eli Mongomery (ranked 4461 p4p, 4324 weight class) and Popeye Marino (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marino has chosen Millonario al tiro as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Eli Mongomery! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Popeye Marino! The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, John Kavanagh and John Roberts.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Marino shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Mongomery is trying to defend but Marino finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Marino is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Mongomery is looking to escape. Marino decides to stand and escape the position. Marino gets a double leg takedown into Mongomery's guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Marino looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Mongomery wants to stand up but Marino is controlling him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Marino stands up and waves to Mongomery to follow him. Mongomery swings and misses with a shot to the body and Marino counters with a crisp one two that drops Mongomery! Marino thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Mongomery to his feet! Mongomery is in big trouble! Mongomery throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Marino looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Mongomery! Marino trying to control the position but Mongomery is working away. Mongomery is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Marino content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Marino looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Marino slows the pace down. Mongomery takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Marino is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mongomery is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Mongomery is pushing Marino's head away, looking to escape. Marino manages to hold on to the position though. Marino controls the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mongomery is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Marino has just dragged him back down to the mat. Mongomery knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Marino on the ground. Mongomery being controlled for a moment. Marino stands up and we're back to a striking position. Eli Mongomery is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Mongomery is breathing heavily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Marino closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Mongomery did well to prevent Marino getting side control. Marino controlling the pace. Marino looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Marino looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Marino performing his best blanket impression for a moment. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Popeye Marino dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.
Marino lands a left and a right that send Mongomery crashing to the mat, dazed. Marino thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet! Marino avoids the head kick by Mongomery.
Marino shoots in and bounces Mongomery off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Marino lands a couple of digs. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Mongomery can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Marino controls the pace. Marino throws a big elbow that misses. Marino controls from within his opponent's guard. Marino is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mongomery wants to stand and escape but Marino is having none of it. Marino not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Marino thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Marino not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Marino throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Mongomery works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Marino's corner is telling him to maintain position. Marino passes into half guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Marino passes the guard and advances to mount!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Marino lands a big shot there that rocks Mongomery but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Marino controlling the pace for now. Marino lands with some strikes. Marino controlling from the full mount. Marino landing strikes, looking to finish!
Mongomery is rocked! Marino has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Marino looking to secure an arm triangle but Mongomery defends it well. Marino has hold of Mongomery's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Mongomery manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mongomery is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Marino lands with some strikes. Mongomery has given up his back.
Marino has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Mongomery has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Popeye Marino has got the better of the ground game so far.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Marino lands an elbow to the side of the head. Mongomery is trying to stand back up. Mongomery is trying to defend against the choke here but Marino has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Marino Tightens the hold and Mongomery taps out furiously! Marino displays superior BJJ to win the fight.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:49 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Popeye Marino! A very excited looking Popeye Marino rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
