Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kurt Long (ranked 6136 p4p, 6158 weight class) and Bob Sanders (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sanders has chosen DelaRey as his entrance music. Bob Sanders has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Kurt Long!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Bob Sanders!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Michael Johnstone and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick by Long misses

and Sanders holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Sanders gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Long trying to control the position.
Long keeping full guard, as Sanders tries to pass.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Long is on top in guard.

Long trying to control the position from guard on top but Sanders is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Long really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Long is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Sanders is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Sanders is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Long throws a strike but Sanders rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Sanders stops Long from standing up.
Sanders trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Sanders must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Sanders gets to his feet - Long follows without any prompting.
Long pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Sanders shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Sanders was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Long gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Long is working to get back to half guard.
Sanders wants to stand but Long is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.
Long is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Sanders looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Long is looking to get to half guard.

Sanders has hold of Long's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Long manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Long regains half guard.
Long is looking to control Sanders's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Long avoid being mounted?

Sanders is looking to advance position but Long won't allow it.
Long wants to get back to full guard.
Sanders tries to pass the half guard into mount. Long knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Sanders has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Sanders tries to control but Long wriggling away.

Sanders is working for a guillotine from mount but Long frees his head quite easily.

Long is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Long sneaks out the side door and pushes Sanders away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

and Sanders counters by clinching up.
A frustrated look appears on Long's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Long has had enough of the clinch but Sanders keeps him there for the moment.

Sanders is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Long can't fight it off and eventually Sanders manages to take the fight to the floor. Long looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Sanders in particular looking to stall.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Sanders has control of Long's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Long regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Sanders wants to finish this one by submission but Long is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Sanders.

Sanders is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Long has managed to escape the submission attempt.

The referee warns Long that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Sanders fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Long is bucking up trying to escape but Sanders cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Sanders lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Long.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Sanders's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Well Sanders has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
