Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rafael Souza!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, George Dos Velas!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Leandro Rodrigues and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Souza shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Dos Velas but Dos Velas pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Souza walks into a straight right hand from Dos Velas.
Souza has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Dos Velas finds it's way round the side to connect with Souza's head.
Souza looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Dos Velas!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dos Velas avoids a series of strikes thrown by Souza.
Dos Velas keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Souza looking to control and managing it successfully.
Dos Velas is wriggling around trying to escape.
Dos Velas gets back to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Dos Velas trying to control but Souza postures up.
Dos Velas punching from the bottom.
Dos Velas is looking to improve his position.
Dos Velas is looking to control Souza's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Dos Velas avoid being mounted?
Souza is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Dos Velas is just riding it out for now. Souza eventually gives up the hold.
Souza is breathing heavily.
Dos Velas makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Dos Velas.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Dos Velas is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Souza rolls with it to try and escape but Dos Velas cranks on the arm and Souza is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
