The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Lynn looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Helenius is fending him off so far but Lynn persists. Nope, Helenius circles away and we're back to standing. Lynn will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Lynn feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Lynn (2) vs (0) Helenius Lynn trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Lynn lying in Helenius's guard like a wet fish here, stalling away. Helenius decides he's had enough of all that nonsense - he escapes his hips and locks up an armbar! Wow, that was slick! Lynn taps! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Rupert Helenius! An out of breath Rupert Helenius thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career. |
