Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Renato Gracie! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pablo Caceres! The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Daniel Cesar and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Caceres works over Gracie's head and body with a nice combination.
It looks like Renato Gracie has been cut. Gracie tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Caceres swivels and escapes. Caceres digs a good body shot into Gracie's ribs. Caceres scores with a jab to the body. Caceres wants to clinch. An inside leg kick lands from Caceres. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Caceres slips a jab from Gracie. Gracie wants to clinch. Caceres darts in trying to clinch and Gracie counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Caceres! Caceres is working to get back to half guard.
Gracie avoids the attempt from Caceres to control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Caceres is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gracie looking to finish with strikes here!
The referee warns Caceres that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Caceres regains half guard. Gracie has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Caceres is looking to control Gracie's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Caceres avoid being mounted? Caceres preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head. Gracie prevents Caceres from improving his position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Still in half guard, Gracie seems content to control. Caceres has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Gracie is working away from the top position though. Gracie stands up from half guard. Gracie is breathing heavily. A left and a right from Caceres both land. Nice combination. Gracie dodges the punch combination from Caceres.
Caceres works over Gracie's head and body with a nice combination. Caceres throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Caceres lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Caceres throws a head kick that Gracie semi-blocks.
Gracie is rocked! Danga de danga de dang - Caceres scores with a four punch combination! Oh Gracie is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Caceres is looking to slow Gracie down with leg kicks. Caceres lands a hook that stumbles Gracie back into the cage. Caceres follows up with a straight and another hook that land right on the button, dropping Gracie to the canvas! Caceres pounces and lands several unanswered shots - Gracie has had enough and taps out! This one is all over!
