Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gomer Pyle! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Junior Nunes! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Matheus Silva and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nunes has closed the distance and engaged Pyle in a clinch.
Pyle looking to throw knees to the head but Nunes is blocking nicely.

Nunes breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Pyle shoots for a double leg takedown but Nunes sprawls well. He's pushed Pyle's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Nunes scores a takedown into full mount! Pyle is looking to get to half guard. Pyle is squirming around, avoiding Nunes's attempts to control the action. Pyle wants to control but Nunes is having none of it. Nunes trying to control but he's not successful this time. Pyle tries to lock up and control but Nunes gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Pyle is in all sorts of trouble here.
You get the feeling that Pyle really doesn't like being in this position too much.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nunes trying to control but Pyle is having none of it. Pyle takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Pyle is looking to get to half guard. Pyle regains half guard. Pyle misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Nunes is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Pyle moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Nunes keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Pyle's head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pyle looking for a guillotine here but Nunes defends easily.
Nunes gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Pyle is breathing heavily. Pyle with a lazy takedown attempt and Nunes counters with a takedown into side control. You can see the frustration on Pyle's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Pyle takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Nunes remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Nunes postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pyle manages to get back to half guard. Pyle wants to get back to his feet. Nunes looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pyle slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Nunes loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Nunes is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Pyle has his foot on Nunes's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Nunes works his way back into a safe position though. Pyle tries to land a sweep but no joy. Nunes landing with the ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nunes wants to pass the guard but Pyle is keeping the position. Nunes missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Nunes trying to control but Pyle is working from the bottom. Pyle is working an open guard so Nunes takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Pyle misses with a takedown and Nunes counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Nunes. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gomer Pyle. That's going to take a lot out of him. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Pyle is looking for a triangle but Nunes pushes his legs off easily.
Pyle has an active guard here but Nunes has managed to pass into half guard.

Junior Nunes dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Nunes shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Nunes with good strikes from the mount here! Pyle can't escape the position.
Nunes controlling the pace for now. Pyle bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Nunes is trying to keep Pyle in close.
Nunes is looking to stand up but Pyle isn't so interested in that idea. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nunes keeping moving, preventing Pyle from controlling successfully. Junior Nunes has got the better of the ground game so far. Pyle preventing the sweep. Nunes keeping full guard, as Pyle tries to pass. Nunes looking to control.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Pyle tries for a takedown but Nunes circles away easily and Nunes decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Pyle's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pyle is striking but Nunes is not phased and passes to half guard. Nice strikes from Nunes there. Nunes is looking for a kimura but Pyle is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Nunes to get the leverage. Nunes really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pyle. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Pyle missing with punches from the bottom.

Pyle wants to sweep but no luck.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nunes scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Nunes trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Pyle has his foot on Nunes's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Nunes works his way back into a safe position though. Nunes tries to free his leg and advance position but Pyle is retaining full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Nunes is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Pyle is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Nunes rolls with it to try and escape but Pyle cranks on the arm and Nunes is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
