The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rate shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Rate showed some decent athleticism there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rate controlling the pace.
Rate moves into full mount! Satus Ad Finem won't be happy about that!
Rate sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Satus Ad Finem looks winded!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Rate has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
This is a sustained period of stalling by Rate.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Peter Rate dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Rate throws a shot to the body.

Rate clinches up against the cage.

Rate escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Rate fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Satus Ad Finem, pushing him back against the cage.
Rate working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Rate lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Satus Ad Finem should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Rate lands a left hand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rate gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Rate slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Satus Ad Finem is breathing heavily.

Rate is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Satus Ad Finem will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Rate with a nice cross.

It looks like Victus Satus Ad Finem has been cut.
Rate weaves into range and cracks Satus Ad Finem right on the temple with a beautiful overhand right! Satus Ad Finem goes down! He's out cold! Wow, what a beautiful knockout! Rate is strutting round the canvas like a movie star as the camera bulbs flash frantically.
