Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, James Benoit!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Makoto Toda!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Trevor Gratis and Robert Douchet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Toda tries to close the distance and clinch up but Benoit swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Benoit closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Toda did well to prevent Benoit getting side control.

Benoit is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Toda sees it coming and defends easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Toda is trying to maintain the position but Benoit is very close to passing his half guard.
Toda manages to get to full guard.

Toda working for a triangle but Benoit defends it easily.
Benoit stands up over Toda, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Benoit scoring with punches to the head and body.
Benoit working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

Benoit trying to control the position from guard on top but Toda is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Benoit lands a couple of digs.
Benoit is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Benoit makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Benoit stands and throws Toda's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Toda on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Benoit cracks Toda with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Toda wants to improve his position, back to half guard but Benoit has ideas of his own. He's got hold of Toda's far side arm and it looks like he's got an Americana. Ohh! Ohhhh! OOOOOOOOOH! A human being's arm is not meant to bend like that! Toda is tapping like a morse code operator on the Titanic! SOS SOS! He's out of here! Great win for Benoit!
