Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Eduardo Ferreira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tommy Sawyer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tommy Sawyer is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Emerson Jorge and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sawyer tries to clinch but Ferreira is having none of it.
Ferreira misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Sawyer looks for a takedown but Ferreira sprawls well.
Tommy Sawyer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ferreira dodges the punch combination from Sawyer.
Sawyer tries to clinch but Ferreira is having none of it.

Sawyer shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Ferreira but Ferreira pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Ferreira closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Sawyer misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Ferreira tries to pull guard but Sawyer holds him up against the cage and eventually Ferreira drops back down to his feet.

Sawyer tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Ferreira just stands there and leans against the cage.
Sawyer gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Ferreira.

Ferreira is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Sawyer pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Sawyer has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Ferreira avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Ferreira fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Sawyer manages to avoid it.

and Sawyer counters with a single leg into guard. Ferreira didn't expect that.

Sawyer drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Ferreira dives on top into guard.
Ferreira will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Sawyer tries to keep at a distance but Ferreira has taken the fight into the clinch.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Ferreira.
Ferreira pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Ferreira rushes Sawyer and presses him up against the cage.
Ferreira wants to break free but Sawyer has control.
Ferreira breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Ferreira rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Sawyer moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Sawyer shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Ferreira's guard.
Ferreira has his feet on Sawyer's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Sawyer stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ferreira swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Ferreira is looking for a triangle but Sawyer pushes his legs off easily.

Sawyer wants to clinch but Ferreira slips to the side
and Ferreira counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Sawyer is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Ferreira shoots in looking for a takedown. Sawyer tries to sprawl out of it but Ferreira keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sawyer manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Sawyer shoots in and bounces Ferreira off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Sawyer has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Ferreira is proving hard to escape from.
Sawyer controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Tommy Sawyer showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Sawyer postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Ferreira is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Sawyer, into his guard.
Ferreira passes Sawyer's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Sawyer is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Ferreira has latched onto it... Big trouble! Ferreira pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Sawyer is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Ferreira!
