Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Danilo Shadow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wanderlie Sobral (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Danilo Shadow!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Wanderlie Sobral!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Edson Gomes and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sobral tries to keep at a distance but Shadow has taken the fight into the clinch.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Shadow wants to break free but Sobral has control.

Sobral has clasped his hands together around Shadow's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Sobral stands up and beckons Shadow to his feet.
Shadow shoots in for a double leg but Sobral sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Shadow shoots in but no luck this time.
Shadow really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Sobral moves into the clinch successfully.
Sobral goes for a takedown in the clinch but Shadow prevents it.

Shadow escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Shadow looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Danilo Shadow. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Shadow throws a nice looking combination but Sobral bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Sobral fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Sobral gets a clinch.
Shadow fails to pull guard.
Sobral wants a takedown.
Sobral stalling in the clinch.

Sobral gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Shadow.
Shadow lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

Sobral pulls guard effortlessly.
Shadow slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Shadow is breathing heavily.

Sobral sneaks back into half guard.
Sobral is looking for a sweep. Shadow is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Sobral kicks off Shadow and gets to his feet.

Sobral gets in close and instigates a clinch.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Sobral gets a trip takedown into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Shadow works his way to full guard. Good work.
Shadow is pulling down on Sobral's head to control his posture.
Sobral trying to control the position from guard on top but Shadow is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Shadow will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Shadow has Sobral pulled in close to control his posture.

Shadow kicks Sobral off and gets to his feet.

Sobral looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Shadow scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Sobral tries a head kick but it misses.

Shadow forces Sobral back against the cage and clinches.

Shadow jumps guard.
Sobral looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Sobral trying to control the position from guard on top but Shadow is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Wanderlie Sobral dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


No joy there for Shadow, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Sobral shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Shadow decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Sobral's guard.
Sobral is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Sobral looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Shadow cracks Sobral with a solid left hand.
Shadow advances position into side control!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
You can see the frustration on Sobral's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Shadow lands a few punches from side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sobral is trying to improve his position.
Shadow trying to control the position but Sobral is working away.

Sobral is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Shadow's leg. Oh but that's left an opportunity for Shadow! He's got an arm triangle... it looks tight! He's rotating and Sobral has tapped! This one is allllll over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Danilo Shadow!
