Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Smith (ranked 4459 p4p, 5362 weight class) and Robert Bobert (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ryan Smith! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Robert Bobert! The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Lou da Vinci and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smith shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Smith showed some decent athleticism there. Bobert tries to roll over but Smith keeps him under control. Bobert trying to control but Smith postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Smith looks to land a strike but Bobert avoids it nicely and regains full guard. Bobert working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Smith doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Smith manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bobert lands some strikes from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bobert controls Smith momentarily but Smith frees himself. Bobert is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Bobert looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Bobert is controlling the pace.
Smith is trying to get back to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bobert is figuring out what he wants to do next. Smith trying to control but Bobert postures up.
Smith moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Bobert slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Smith looking to hit a scissor sweep but Bobert is one step ahead there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Bobert blocking the ground and pound attempt from Smith. Smith tries to stand and escape but Bobert actually recovers to full guard. Bobert is trying to keep Smith in close.
Smith trying to control the position from guard on top but Bobert is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Bobert throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Smith stays in close to Bobert's body and controls the position. Smith trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Bobert has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Bobert trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Ryan Smith dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Bobert closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Smith did well to prevent Bobert getting side control. Smith manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Bobert keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage. Bobert blocks a body shot from Smith. Bobert lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Smith really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Bobert is looking for a kimura here.
