This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Hilo, with a TWGC record of 34 wins and 38 losses; Prana Halo! And in the blue corner, fighting out of London, with a TWGC record of 11 wins and 16 losses; Jari Laitila!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.


The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Laitila keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Halo is defended easily by Laitila.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Halo has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Laitila clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Halo has the hooks in. Laitila is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Laitila is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Halo wants to control but Laitila manages to buck him off and is now in Halo's guard! Nice work there by Laitila!

Halo working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Laitila doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Laitila manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
We've been hearing good reports from Halo's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Halo has his foot on Laitila's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Laitila works his way back into a safe position though.

Halo is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Laitila is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Halo wants to control but Laitila is having none of it.
Halo bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Halo has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Laitila to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Halo is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Laitila pulls down on the head and he's put Halo to sleep! This one is all over!
