Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Luke Thompson (ranked 2616 p4p, 4472 weight class) and Jan Smit (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smit tries for a takedown but Thompson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Smit shoots for a double leg takedown but Thompson sprawls well. He's pushed Smit's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Smit tries to clinch up but Thompson circles away and keeps his distance.

Luke Thompson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jan Smit.
The fighters circling - Thompson throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Smit shoots in looking for a takedown. Thompson tries to sprawl out of it but Smit keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Thompson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Smit throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Jan Smit seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Smit scores with a head kick. Thompson tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Smit shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Thompson defends it nicely.

The fight stays on the outside here - Smit looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Thompson is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Smit.

and Thompson counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Smit! He's just covering up as Thompson starts to tee off till the referee steps in and stops the fight!
