In the red corner, competing out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 3 wins and 0 losses; Harris Mint! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 60 wins and 37 losses; Harry Hirsch!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Alyssa Summers and David Schapiro.


The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.

Hirsch pushes Mint up against the cage in a clinch.

Hirsch has picked Mint up - he's going for a ride! Hirsch dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Hirsch tries to pass the half guard into mount. Mint knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

We've been hearing good reports from Mint's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Well, if Hirsch is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hirsch keeps control of the position easily here as Mint tries to buck him off.

What can Mint do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
More stalling from Hirsch.
It looks like Hirsch might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Mint looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Mint might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Hirsch has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Mint's body.

Mint breaks Hirsch's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Mint is fighting to break Hirsch's control of his arms but Hirsch is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Hirsch can't keep his opponent in guard - Mint advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Hirsch has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mint seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hirsch does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Mint has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Mint wants to pass the guard but Hirsch is defending well.

Hirsch tries to roll over but Mint keeps him under control.
Hirsch is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Mint trying to control from Hirsch's half guard. Hirsch has other ideas though and has regained full guard.

Hirsch wins on points by 8 to 2.
