Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between JP Flaim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Curtis Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, JP Flaim! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Curtis Jackson! The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Thiago Cunha and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Flaim keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Jackson lands a jab. Jackson wants to clinch up but Flaim keeps it at a distance. Flaim drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Flaim tries to free his leg and advance position but Jackson is retaining full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jackson is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Flaim is controlling him. Flaim trying to control but Jackson is working from the bottom. Jackson wants to get back to his feet but Flaim is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jackson is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Jackson keeping moving, preventing Flaim from controlling successfully.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Jackson misses with a wild combination.
Flaim tries for a takedown but Jackson circles away easily and Jackson counters with a shoot takedown. Flaim fights it but they end up in guard. Flaim tries to land a sweep but no joy. Flaim is looking for a triangle but Jackson pushes his legs off easily.
Flaim seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Flaim throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Flaim is breathing heavily. You can see the frustration on Flaim's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jackson stands up and we're back to a striking position. Jackson throws a right and a left that both miss. Jackson throws a right and a left that Flaim avoids nicely. Jackson shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Flaim counters with a nice double leg into side control. Jackson won't be happy with that. Jackson is trying to get back to his feet. Flaim working the ground and pound but Jackson is defending the strikes. Jackson wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Jackson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Flaim. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Flaim wants to control but Jackson is keeping him busy. Jackson is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Flaim asserts his dominance and retains side control. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jackson can do anything to dispel that myth. Flaim works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Flaim thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Flaim wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jackson keeps working. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that JP Flaim will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Flaim fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Jackson falls off balance throwing a combination
and Flaim counters with a right hand to the body. Flaim misses with a takedown and Jackson counters with a one-two to the body. Flaim shoots in but Jackson avoids the takedown attempt easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for JP Flaim. That's going to take a lot out of him. Flaim circles away from the clinch attempt and Flaim counters with a lovely straight right hand! Jackson tries to clinch but fails miserably and Flaim counters with a nice double leg into guard. JP Flaim overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Flaim trying to control the position from guard on top but Jackson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Flaim working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Flaim trying to control but Jackson is working from the bottom. Flaim prevents Jackson from getting back to his feet. Flaim trying to control the position from guard on top but Jackson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Flaim chips away with some ground and pound. Flaim trying to control but Jackson is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Jackson tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Flaim was well out of range. Poor timing from Jackson. Jackson goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Jackson tries to clinch up and Flaim counters with a shoot takedown. Jackson fights it but they end up in guard. Flaim stands and throws Jackson's legs to the side, diving into side control. Jackson is looking for a sweep. Flaim is looking to take a break and control but Jackson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Flaim postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jackson wants to get back to his feet but Flaim drags him back down. Flaim is working to tighten is grip on Jackson's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Jackson has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Flaim is really squeezing tight and eventually Jackson passes out! Flaim breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). JP Flaim!
