Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tenlou Maia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Alberto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Seu Braga and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alberto decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Alberto wants to stand up but Maia is controlling the position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Alberto has a hand on Maia's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Maia takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Carlos Alberto showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Maia throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Alberto's waist but Alberto gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Maia off to one side.

Alberto shoots in for a takedown but Maia shows good takedown defense.
Maia ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Alberto moves away.
Maia gets caught flat footed, as Alberto shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Maia wants to get back to his feet but Alberto is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Alberto wants to control from the top but Maia keeps moving.
Alberto drops back, looking for a kneebar! Maia looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Maia looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Maia!

Maia decides to stand back up. Maia steps back and let's Alberto get back to his feet.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tenlou Maia. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Maia is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Alberto's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Alberto's back!

Alberto should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Alberto is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Maia off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Tenlou Maia.
I think Maia has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
