Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Lyman Hicks!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Small Richard!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Santiago Holmes and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Hicks, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Lyman Hicks seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Richard walks into a left hand.
Richard closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Hicks lands with a straight right. Richard didn't see that one coming.
Hicks slips a straight right by Richard.
Nice body punch from Hicks.
Hicks throws a nice inside leg kick.
Hicks jabs Richard to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Richard throws a poor cross that misses
and Hicks counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Hicks throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Hicks misses the shot to the body.
Richard feints the counter takedown.
Hicks swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Richard counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Hicks!

Hicks explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Hicks is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hicks tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Richard wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Richard grinds an elbow into Hicks's temple.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Richard is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Hicks will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Hicks wants to control but Richard postures up.

Richard controlling from side mount.
Richard is looking to take a break and control but Hicks is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Hicks is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at PhoQus Island Training, so we'll see if he gets out of it.

Richard is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hicks knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Hicks tries to improve position but can't.
Hicks is trying to work for a sweep but Richard has mounted him!
Richard is landing with some decent strikes but Hicks is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hicks is looking to improve his position but Richard isn't that keen on the idea.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hicks's corner calls for a 1-2. Hicks obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Richard is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent.
Richard gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Hicks's jab looks to have found its range, popping Richard under the eye.
Hicks comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Richard throws an overhand right that lands on Hicks's shoulder, as Hicks tries to avoid the shot.
Richard throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Richard looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Nice shot lands for Hicks.
Richard takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Richard changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hicks looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Hicks wants to get back to his feet but Richard is dominant here and he's now got Hicks's back!

Richard controlling the position well here. Hicks rolled but Richard kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Richard is not going to allow Hicks to sit and survive in this position.
Richard has good solid back control here.

Richard is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Hicks defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hicks covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.
Richard controls the position.
Richard gets his hands free as Hicks looks to control.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Hicks tries to escape but Richard has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Richard lands a punch to the side of the head from the back.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

You can see the frustration on Hicks's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
What can Hicks do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Hicks stuns Richard with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Hicks lands a really nice looking cross but Richard seems unphased.
Hicks misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Richard shoots in looking for a takedown. Hicks tries to sprawl out of it but Richard keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Hicks manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Richard might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Richard is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Richard in particular looking to stall.
Richard's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hicks lands a jab to the head.
Hicks connects with a good right hand that stumbles Richard. Richard circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Richard is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Hicks.

Hicks is not content to let Richard control the position.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Hicks throws a right hand that Richard ducks under and follows up with a left that Richard also avoids with ease.
Hicks uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Richard.

Richard in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Hicks is tapping! That's the end of the fight!

Our winner, Small Richard, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
Lyman Hicks was interviewed post fight and said 'That's the game, lets go again. I will fight anybody!'.
