Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 1, fighting out of New York, Mark Hughes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Noomnoi Sitsongrit! The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Russell Pearce and Anthony Taglia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sitsongrit tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Hughes manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Excellent takedown into side control there by Hughes. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hughes thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Hughes is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Sitsongrit is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Sitsongrit prevents Hughes from moving into mount. Hughes goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Sitsongrit rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Hughes's guard! Nice work there by Sitsongrit! Hughes is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Sitsongrit has his hands clasped together but Hughes extends and breaks Sitsongrit's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Hughes.
