Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Simon Cross!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Maxim Ibragimov Ii!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Vladimir Khabensky and Fedor Mirinova.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ibragimov Ii changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Cross tries to avoid it but Ibragimov Ii manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Cross to the ground. Cross escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Cross half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Cross displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Ibragimov Ii.
Ibragimov Ii tries for a takedown but Cross sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Simon Cross has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Maxim Ibragimov Ii.
Cross looking to score a takedown here. Ibragimov Ii is defending well but Cross drives through and ends up in Ibragimov Ii's guard.
Cross tries to free his leg and advance position but Ibragimov Ii is retaining full guard.
Cross trying to control the position from guard on top but Ibragimov Ii is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Ibragimov Ii really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cross. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Ibragimov Ii tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Cross forces his way into half guard.
Cross is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Ibragimov Ii is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Simon Cross!
Simon Cross was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
