Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Charlie Jackson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Karlo Kasap! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Gregory Folan and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kasap scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Jackson seems a little lost for a moment, as Kasap dominates the positioning. You can see the frustration on Jackson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Kasap wants to control but Jackson is keeping him busy. Kasap is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Jackson's shoulder. That is not cool. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kasap trying to control the position but Jackson is working away. Kasap takes a little break here. Jackson wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Jackson is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Kasap asserts his dominance and retains side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kasap trying to control the action but Jackson is working from the bottom. Kasap is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Jackson will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Jackson sneaks out the side door and pushes Kasap away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape. Kasap slaps away a takedown attempt from Jackson, before circling back to the center of the mat. Kasap shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Jackson but Jackson pushes him off and we're back to square one. Kasap fails to land the takedown.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kasap shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Jackson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Jackson looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Charlie Jackson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Karlo Kasap. Jackson scores with a hook to the body. Kasap takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Karlo Kasap seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jackson pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Kasap back to the cage. Jackson follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Jackson. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Jackson looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Kasap closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Jackson did well to prevent Kasap getting side control. Kasap controlling the action here. Jackson wants to control but Kasap is keeping busy and won't allow it. Jackson is not content to let Kasap control the position. Kasap keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jackson is not content to let Kasap control the position. Jackson wants to get back to full guard. Kasap trying to control the pace. Kasap wants to control but Jackson is keeping him busy. Kasap sitting and controlling from the half guard. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Let's hope that Kasap has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Kasap.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Kasap shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Jackson sprawls well. Jackson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Kasap gets slowly back to his feet. Jackson attempts a counter takedown but Kasap avoids it well and moves away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Kasap drives through with a takedown into Jackson's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Jackson is looking to stand up but Kasap isn't so interested in that idea. Kasap sitting in guard here, content to control. Kasap really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jackson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Jackson has control of Kasap's left arm, preventing Kasap from doing any damage. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Jackson controls Kasap momentarily but Kasap frees himself. Jackson wants to stand up but Kasap is controlling him. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Charlie Jackson will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Kasap will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Jackson tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Kasap manages to circle out of the way. Jackson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Jackson stuffs the takedown attempt from Kasap. Kasap gets slowly back to his feet. As Kasap looks to move away, Jackson throws a big counter combo but Kasap just gets out of the way. Jackson thuds his shin into the meat of Kasap's side. Jackson drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Kasap controlling Jackson's posture. Jackson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kasap can do to turn this around? Jackson gets to his feet - Kasap follows without any prompting. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kasap shoots for a takedown but Jackson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Jackson tries to counter by clinching up but Kasap breaks away and moves out of range. Charlie Jackson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Karlo Kasap. Jackson chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Kasap shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jackson pinned against the cage. Jackson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jackson is looking to clinch. Nice body punch from Jackson. Horrible takedown attempt by Jackson or perhaps it was just good defense by Kasap, which made it look bad. Kasap shoots and misses and Jackson counters with an inside leg kick. Kasap is breathing heavily. Jackson lands with a thumping leg kick.
A head kick from Jackson lands but Kasap takes it in his stride. Kasap has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Jackson finds it's way round the side to connect with Kasap's head.
It looks like Karlo Kasap has been cut. Kasap tries for a takedown but Jackson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Jackson drops down looking for a counter takedown but Kasap sprawls and moves away. Jackson lands a big head kick that sends Kasap tumbling to the mat! Jackson takes a step backwards and waves Kasap back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Kasap is rocked! Charlie Jackson is winning the standup battle so far. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Jackson stuns Kasap with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Kasap is still on wobbly legs! Can Jackson finish him? Kasap keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Jackson has closed the distance and engaged Kasap in a clinch.
Jackson breaks the clinch.
Jackson catches Kasap with a right, a left, a right. It's raining punches and Kasap forgot an umbrella! Another punch and he's down. This one is over!
