PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ron Austin (ranked 5609 p4p, 20469 weight class) and Scut Frakus (ranked 525 p4p, 0 weight class). Austin has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 31 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ron Austin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Scut Frakus!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, John Roberts and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Frakus closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Austin did well to prevent Frakus getting side control.
Frakus performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
It looks like Frakus might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Frakus moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Austin.
Austin is breathing heavily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Frakus is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Frakus works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Austin seems a little lost for a moment, as Frakus dominates the positioning.
Austin tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Frakus is staying tight to Austin's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Let's hope that Frakus has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Frakus controls the position.
We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Frakus.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Austin tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Frakus content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Frakus creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Frakus is staying tight to Austin's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Frakus lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Austin is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Austin seems a little lost for a moment, as Frakus dominates the positioning.
Austin is trying to improve his position.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Austin enables Frakus to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Austin manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Frakus not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Austin has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Frakus can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Austin on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Austin tries to get out of the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Frakus lands a decent elbow from side control.
Frakus slows the pace down.
Austin takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Frakus is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Austin will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Scut Frakus has got the better of the ground game so far.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Frakus looks up at the clock and then as Austin takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Frakus smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Austin is looking to regain half guard here but Frakus keeps moving and retains side control.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Frakus has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Frakus's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Frakus lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Austin down.

Austin tries to buck Frakus off but Frakus is having none of it.
The referee asks Frakus politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Frakus prefers to stall for the moment though.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
More stalling from Frakus.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Frakus shoots in and gets a takedown into Austin's guard.
Frakus is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The adventures of Frakus the control monster continue. Boring.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Scut Frakus showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Frakus shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Austin manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Frakus stays in close to Austin's body and controls the position.

Austin gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Frakus to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Frakus seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Frakus has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Frakus makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Austin tries to bench press Frakus off him but Frakus keeps the position.
Frakus is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Austin will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Ron Austin has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Scut Frakus is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Scut Frakus comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Frakus has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
