Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rahmi Kaan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kevin Slay!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Frank Dennis and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kaan rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Slay moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Slay is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Kaan connects with a leg kick.
Kaan moves into range and clinches up with Slay.
Kaan scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Kaan misses with a punch on the inside.
The referee calls for Kaan to work.
Kaan stalling in the clinch.
Slay tries to break free but Kaan pushes him back against the cage.
Kaan holding his opponent close, against the cage.
Kaan lands a nice shot to the body.
Slay letting Kaan take a breather here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Slay wants to break free but Kaan has control.
Kaan will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Slay up against the cage.
Slay wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Kaan has him pressed against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Kaan stalling in the clinch.
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Rahmi Kaan.
Kaan throws a leg kick that is checked
and Slay counters with a head kick. That will keep Kaan thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Kaan connects with a body shot.
Slay and Kaan are patiently standing in front of each other looking for an opening. Slay throws a head kick. It's landed, knocking Kaan into next week! Ooooh that was huge! Slay knows it - he's on the cage flexing is biceps. That's a bit weird considering he won by kick but whatever.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Kevin Slay!
