Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Bihom Tarsun! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Shaw Maxwell! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Steve Smith and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Maxwell misses with a looping left. Maxwell throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Tarsun sees it coming and avoids it easily. Maxwell throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Tarsun connects with a solid leg kick. Maxwell pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Maxwell pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Tarsun takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Maxwell throws a hook but Tarsun avoids it easily. Tarsun ducks under a wild hook from Maxwell. Tarsun displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Maxwell throws out the jab. Maxwell throws a hook but Tarsun avoids it easily. Maxwell throws a jab but it's blocked by Tarsun. Tarsun goes for a high kick. It partially lands. Tarsun sizes up Maxwell with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Shaw Maxwell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Tarsun staying out of range there. A head kick by Maxwell misses letting Tarsun counter with a right hand. A combination from Maxwell does no damage. Tarsun works Maxwell's body with a nice hook. Tarsun slips a jab from Maxwell. Shaw Maxwell is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tarsun turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Tarsun ducks under a wild hook from Maxwell. Tarsun closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Maxwell is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Tarsun off and has taken his back! Tarsun is trying to break free.
Maxwell is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Tarsun defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Tarsun tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Tarsun is wriggling around trying to escape.
Tarsun wants to hold on but Maxwell pushes him away. Maxwell goes for an armbar but Tarsun turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Tarsun. Maxwell is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tarsun trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Maxwell keeping moving, preventing Tarsun from controlling successfully. Maxwell has his feet on Tarsun's thighs here. He's pushed Tarsun off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Tarsun screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
