Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jim Peterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marshall Mason (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Jim Peterson has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jim Peterson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marshall Mason! The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Dean Styles and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice sprawl there from Peterson as Mason shoots in. Peterson misses with a double jab.
Mason shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Mason is trying to control. Peterson wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Peterson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Peterson is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Mason scores with a couple of nice shots. Peterson is trying to maintain the position but Mason is very close to passing his half guard. Peterson missing with punches from the bottom.
Peterson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mason on the ground. Peterson trying to hold on to Mason's head to control him but Mason postures up.
Mason scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Mason escapes and gets back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Peterson is looking to clinch but Mason is avoiding it.
Mason shoots in and drives through. Peterson sprawls well. Mason misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Mason with a jab. Peterson wants to clinch. Mason shoots in and bounces Peterson off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Mason stopping the sweep attempt from Peterson. Mason slips nicely into half guard. Mason decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Peterson misses with a takedown and Mason decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Peterson's guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Peterson manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Peterson avoids the attempt from Mason to control. Peterson throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Peterson trying to control but Mason is having none of it. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Peterson prevents Mason from getting the reversal.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mason is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Mason really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Mason looks gassed! Peterson trying to control but he's not successful this time. Peterson throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Peterson unloads with some shots from mount but Mason bucks and avoids them well.
Mason is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Mason is squirming around, avoiding Peterson's attempts to control the action. Mason slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Peterson wants to control but Mason is keeping him busy. Mason is trying to maintain the position but Peterson is very close to passing his half guard. Mason looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Peterson with the ground and pound but Mason uses the opportunity to regain guard. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Mason is on top in guard.
Peterson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Marshall Mason dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Peterson tries to grapple but his opponent circles so Mason counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mason thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Mason drops back, looking for a kneebar! Peterson looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Peterson looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Peterson! Peterson wants to control but Mason is keeping him busy. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Mason gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Peterson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Mason does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
That's one minute gone in the round. Peterson is looking for a kimura here.
Mason moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mason working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Peterson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Peterson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Peterson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mason has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Peterson has managed to get both his arms back between Mason's legs - danger averted. Mason working a defensive guard here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Peterson wants to control from the top but Mason keeps moving. Mason has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Peterson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Mason is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Peterson preventing the sweep. Mason looking for a guillotine here but Peterson defends easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Peterson throwing strikes but missing. Mason is trying to push Peterson off with his feet but Peterson grabs hold of one of the legs and drops back looking for a submission! He's cranking on one of Mason's ankles and Mason is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaall over!
