Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Denis Freire! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Chris Badger! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Seu Braga and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Badger tries to bum rush Freire with a series of wild strikes but Freire uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Freire looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Badger throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Badger looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Badger misses with a jab, cross combination.
Badger looks to land a combination but Freire avoids it well. A combination from Badger does no damage. Badger throws a right hand that Freire ducks under and follows up with a left that Freire also avoids with ease. Badger misses with a few strikes there.
Badger looks for a takedown but Freire sprawls well. Badger looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Freire shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Badger pinned against the cage. That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Badger rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Freire moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Freire shoots in and drives through. Badger sprawls well. The fight stays on the outside here - Freire looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Freire slips a jab and a cross from Badger.

and Freire counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Badger's guard now. Freire stops Badger from standing up. Freire trying to control but Badger is working from the bottom. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Badger is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Freire here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man. Freire drops down looking for an ankle pick but Badger pulls his leg out and moves away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Badger misses with a combination
and Freire counters with a nice double leg into guard. Badger wants to stand up but Freire is controlling him. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Freire wants to pass the guard but Badger is keeping the position. Badger seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Badger kicks Freire off and gets to his feet. Freire throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Badger fails to land with a series of punches.
Freire buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Chris Badger seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A punch combination from Badger misses. Badger misses with a double jab.
Freire bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Badger is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Freire is controlling him well. Freire is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Badger will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Freire throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Badger tries to escape but Freire is in control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Badger is letting Freire control him for a moment.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Badger looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Badger throws a series of punches but Freire moves out of range. Freire looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Badger! Freire content just to control the position here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Freire has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Freire punching from mount but Badger doing a good job of avoiding damage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Denis Freire dominated that second round. That's time! Freire's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!

That's one minute gone in the round. Freire is taking a breather. Badger says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Badger wants to get back to his feet. Badger is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Freire is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Chris Badger has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Badger kicks off Freire and gets to his feet. Freire looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Badger lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Freire circles away quickly and effectively.

Freire is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Badger gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Denis Freire. That's going to take a lot out of him. Freire is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Freire tries for a takedown but Badger manages to get underhooks.

Denis Freire is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Freire is looking to clinch but Badger is avoiding it.
And that's the end of the fight! Denis Freire showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Freire, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
