PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Panda MacLeod (ranked 2548 p4p, 2546 weight class) and Chief Red Eagle (ranked 122 p4p, 121 weight class). Chief Red Eagle is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Panda MacLeod!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 32 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chief Red Eagle!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Red Eagle clinches.
Red Eagle blocks an uppercut.
A nice left hand lands by Red Eagle.
Red Eagle misses with a shot to the kidneys.
MacLeod throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
MacLeod swings wildly with an uppercut but Red Eagle uses good head movement to avoid it.
MacLeod definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

MacLeod manages to pull guard.
MacLeod has a closed guard, preventing Red Eagle from standing up.

MacLeod working for a triangle but Red Eagle defends it easily.
MacLeod might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

MacLeod has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Red Eagle can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

MacLeod looking for a guillotine here but Red Eagle defends easily.

MacLeod has his foot on Red Eagle's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Red Eagle works his way back into a safe position though.

That's one minute gone in the round.

MacLeod looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
MacLeod on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if MacLeod tries to get out of the position.
Red Eagle wants to stand and escape but instead MacLeod has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.


MacLeod drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Red Eagle dives on top into guard.

Red Eagle wants to get up but he can't break MacLeod's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

MacLeod is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

MacLeod has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Red Eagle can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Red Eagle got a little sloppy there for a moment and MacLeod has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Red Eagle has managed to get both his arms back between MacLeod's legs - danger averted.
Red Eagle has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of MacLeod is proving hard to escape from.

MacLeod escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Red Eagle gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Red Eagle really doesn't want to stay on the ground with MacLeod. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
MacLeod has a closed guard, preventing Red Eagle from standing up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Red Eagle is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Red Eagle wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of MacLeod's closed guard. He's half up but MacLeod has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! MacLeod pivots and extends the arm, Red Eagle falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by MacLeod! Well done that man!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Panda MacLeod!
