Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between joe d (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Renan Filho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, joe d!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Renan Filho!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Mauricio Rocha and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Filho moves into the clinch.
Filho looking to throw knees to the head but d is blocking nicely.

Filho has hold of one of d's legs. d is fighting the takedown attempt but Filho gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
d controls Filho momentarily but Filho frees himself.
Filho wanted to stand there but d had control of the position.
d controlling Filho's posture.
Filho has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of d is proving hard to escape from.
d is pulling down on Filho's head to control his posture.

d has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Filho can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
d is trying to control the position but Filho postures up.
Filho trying to stand up but can't free himself from d's guard.

d managing to control the position.
d trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Filho being controlled here momentarily.
Filho wanted to stand there but d had control of the position.
d is pulling down on Filho's head. It's preventing any offense from Filho, at least for the moment.

d had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Filho is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. d Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Filho's back instead.
d will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The crowd hopeful of a finish here - d's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
d is breathing heavily.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
A bit of a pause in the action here. d controlling the positon.
Filho is trying to get back to his feet but d has full control of the position and if anything, Filho has just worked his way into a worse spot.

d really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

d struggling to keep hold of the position.

Filho is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if d gets his way!
Filho is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get d off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.

d is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Filho wants to get back to his feet.
d trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The referee stands the fighters back up. joe d just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
The fight stays on the outside here - Filho looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Filho wants to clinch.
Filho just misses with a punch to the body.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Filho lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Filho fails to land with a series of punches.
d dodges the punch combination from Filho.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Filho drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Filho must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
d is trying to control the position from the bottom.
d pulls Filho in close to prevent any damage.
Filho wanted to stand there but d had control of the position.
d tries to strike from the bottom.

d is looking for a triangle but Filho pushes his legs off easily.
Filho wanted to stand there but d had control of the position.
d controls Filho momentarily but Filho frees himself.
Filho really doesn't want to stay on the ground with d. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
d is trying to control the position but Filho postures up.
d is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Filho is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Filho wants to get up but he can't break d's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
d looking to control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Filho tries to close the distance and clinch but d swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Filho lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but d circles away quickly and effectively.
Filho misses with a jab, cross combination.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
d shoots and misses

and Filho counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
d not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

d looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Filho wants to stand but d has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
d has Filho pulled in close to control his posture.
Filho would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
d has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
d is trying to control the position from the bottom.

d escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Filho gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
d looking to control but Filho passes into half guard.
Filho seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Filho throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Renan Filho seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Filho fails to land with a series of punches.
Filho tries to clinch up.
d tries for a takedown but Filho circles away easily
and Filho counters with a thumping low kick.
The fighters circle momentarily. Filho darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
A good leg kick by Filho.
d doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Filho counters with a one-two to the body.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for joe d. That's going to take a lot out of him.

d closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Filho is pushing d's head away, looking to escape. d manages to hold on to the position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Renan Filho showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

d has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Filho should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, d has tightened it up now! Filho should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
