PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jermaine Camacho (ranked 2652 p4p, 2740 weight class) and Tapani Kangas (ranked 305 p4p, 313 weight class). Camacho kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Hero Of War - Rise Against. Tapani Kangas is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 30 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Jermaine Camacho!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Tapani Kangas!
The judges for this bout are Darius Henderson, Steve Erwin and Ben Watson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kangas swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Tapani Kangas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kangas keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Camacho.
Both fighters circling a little - Kangas finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Kangas throws a looping overhand right but Camacho ducks down to avoid it.
Kangas swings for the body but Camacho moves out of range.
Kangas takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Camacho slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Kangas lands a jab.
Kangas feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Camachos jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Kangas uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Camacho.
Kangas throws a leg kick that is checked

and Camacho counters with a single leg into guard. Kangas didn't expect that.
We've been hearing good reports from Camacho's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Kangas tries to roll over but Camacho keeps him under control.

Kangas is staying active underneath Camacho, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kangas wants to control but Camacho is keeping busy.

Camacho seems to be looking for submissions.

Camacho is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Kangas doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Camacho.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Camacho is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Kangas has managed to free his arm - good work.

Camacho is working for a kimura but Kangas is defending it quite comfortably.
Camacho is trying to control. Kangas wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Camacho is working for a submission of some sort.
Camacho trying to pass the guard but Kangas defending well.

Camacho is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Kangas keeps control of the position for the meantime.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Camacho is trying to control the action in half guard but Kangas is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Camacho is working for a submission of some sort.

Camacho is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kangas is just riding it out for now. Camacho eventually gives up the hold.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Camacho is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Camacho throws the kick towards the body but Kangas avoids it.
Kangas moves into range and connects with a jab.
Camacho thuds a left hand into Kangas's body.
Camacho tries for a takedown but Kangas circles away easily
and Kangas counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Camacho shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Camacho seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kangas does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Camacho is trying to work for a kimura but Kangas is defending well.
Kangas wants to sweep but Camacho has passed to side control!

Camacho is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Kangas is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Camacho is looking to take a break and control but Kangas is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Camacho is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Kangas knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Camacho is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Kangas has escaped the position, nice work there.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Kangas is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Camacho thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Kangas can't do much from the bottom here.

Kangas is looking for a sweep.

Camacho is trying to get an arm triangle but Kangas is defending well.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
You can see the frustration on Kangas's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Camacho is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kangas can do to turn this around?

Camacho in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Kangas is tapping! That's the end of the fight!

An out of breath Jermaine Camacho thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
