Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Yuri Voronov!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yuuki Gou and Yasuomi Hirokawa.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Voronov misses with a hook to the body
and Mammadov counters with a lovely straight right hand!

It looks like Yuri Voronov has been cut.
A nice inside leg kick there by Voronov. That's going to slow Mammadov down.

and Mammadov counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Voronov finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Mammadov gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Voronov regains guard.
Mammadov throws a strike but Voronov rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Voronov must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Mammadov is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Voronov defends well.

Voronov throws the left hand but Mammadov avoids the punch easily.
Mammadov feinted there with a counter leg kick.
Voronov is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Mammadov.
Mammadov went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Yuri Voronov is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

It appears Mammadov was looking to counter with a kick there.

Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Mammadov on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Mammadov avoids a punch combination nicely.
Voronov throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Mammadov misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Mammadov throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Voronov's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Mammadov dives in looking to finish as Voronov flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Mammadov's strikes! Mammadov is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Voronov's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Voronov was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.
